Ogechi Adeola top 2% scientist in 2025 Stanford–Elsevier Global Ranking, recognised for her impact in Business and Management

Ogechi Adeola top 2% scientist in the world has been named in the 2025 edition of the Stanford–Elsevier Global Scientist Ranking, marking a major milestone for Nigerian academia.

The highly respected academic, who serves as Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Kigali, was listed for her remarkable contributions in Business and Management.

Adeola is the only scholar from the University of Kigali and one of just 14 Rwandan scientists recognised in this prestigious global compilation.

The list, jointly developed by Stanford University and Elsevier, is based on rigorous citation metrics indexed by Scopus up to the end of 2024.

In a celebratory post, the University of Kigali stated:

“We are especially honoured by the inclusion of Prof. Ogechi Adeola… standing out in a list largely dominated by health and medical sciences.”

The 2025 list highlights the top two per cent of scientists globally across 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields.

More than 200,000 researchers were reviewed, making Adeola’s achievement a powerful distinction in the field of Business.

Meanwhile, another Nigerian, Dr Ayodeji Amobonye Emmanuel, a biotechnology expert and research fellow in Lithuania, was also named in the list.

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) praised Emmanuel as a “worthy ambassador of Nigeria,” citing his scientific contributions at Durban University of Technology and Kaunas University of Technology.

This year, 291 researchers with Nigerian affiliations were featured, a leap from 233 the previous year, showcasing a growing global impact of Nigerian academics in science and research.

The inclusion of Professor Adeola reinforces her status as a leading voice in African business research and a role model for women in academia.
