Omotola 48th birthday message blends faith and gratitude as actress prepares for her directorial debut, Mother’s Love

Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde marked her Omotola 48th birthday with a reflective message of faith, humility and gratitude, while spotlighting the creative team behind her celebratory look.

In a post shared on X, the screen icon described the day as “eventful” and “overwhelmingly mind-blowing”, punctuated by a series of surprises.

She cited Isaiah 40:31 and echoed Psalm 8 in a note of thanksgiving, writing, “Who am I that you are so mindful of me Lord… I am very grateful, Lord!”

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, widely known as Omo Sexy, also credited what she called her “amazing team” for crafting her birthday ensemble.

She acknowledged the contributions of stylist Medlin Boss, brand consultant Dolapo Habeeb and designer Amy Aghomi, alongside other Nigerian creatives involved in fabrics, beads, hair, make-up, photography and videography.

The celebration comes at a pivotal moment in her career. Since her debut in 1995, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has appeared in more than 300 films, earning major honours including an Africa Movie Academy Award and recognition on Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in 2013.

Beyond acting, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has served as a United Nations ambassador and founded The Entertainment Fair and Festival, championing African storytelling and advocacy around education and women’s rights.

She has also ventured into music and real estate, describing a 2005 industry ban as a turning point that encouraged diversification.

In 2026, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde is set to make her directorial debut with Mother’s Love, a film she produced and stars in alongside Ifeanyi Kalu and Lilian Afegbai.

The project, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025, is scheduled for Nigerian release on 6 March and explores themes of sacrifice and family bonds in English and Pidgin.
