Victor Osimhen sets a record as the most valuable player in Turkish Super Lig history with a €100m valuation, sparking transfer interest from PSG and Man United

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has made history as the most valuable player ever to feature in the Turkish Super Lig, with a market valuation of €100m.

This puts him €70m ahead of the next-highest player, Nicolò Zaniolo, who was valued at €30m when he moved from Roma to Galatasaray in 2023, according to data from Transfermarkt.

The Nigerian international joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli last summer after proposed moves to Chelsea and Saudi Arabia fell through.

Since then, he has justified his price tag with an impressive tally of 19 goals in 24 appearances across all competitions for the Turkish giants.

Osimhen leads an elite list of the league’s most valuable players, which includes Zaniolo (€30m), Jean Michael Seri (€25m), Steven Nzonzi (€23m), Tanguy Ndombele (€22m), Sofyan Amrabat (€22m), Mauro Icardi (€22m), Wilfried Zaha (€22m), and former Manchester United midfielder Fred (€20m).

The prolific striker’s future is once again in the spotlight, with European powerhouses Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly set to trigger his €75m release clause this summer.

Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu disclosed that both clubs have reached an agreement with Napoli to activate the clause once the transfer window opens.

“Victor Osimhen is about to sign a deal with a world-renowned management company. In fact, a Real Madrid player is helping facilitate these discussions.

This significantly reduces the chances of him staying at Galatasaray beyond June. Both PSG and Manchester United have made verbal offers regarding salary and contract length,” Sabuncuoglu told *Haber Sari Kirmizi*.

With both clubs prepared to meet the financial demands, Galatasaray will likely struggle to keep hold of their star forward beyond the current season.

New Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has reportedly identified Osimhen as his primary target to strengthen the team’s attack.

The Red Devils have struggled to find consistency up front, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee yet to fully adapt to the Premier League’s physicality.

United’s football director, Jason Wilcox, is currently evaluating different options, including a potential player-exchange deal.

However, Napoli is said to prefer a straight cash offer, maintaining their firm stance on Osimhen’s valuation.

Osimhen’s journey to becoming Turkey’s most valuable player began after a failed permanent transfer last summer, when his €130m release clause proved too expensive for potential suitors, including Chelsea and Saudi clubs.

His subsequent loan move to Galatasaray raised eyebrows across Europe, but the 25-year-old has more than lived up to expectations.

He has been instrumental in leading Galatasaray to the top of the Super Lig while also helping the club reach the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League.

His absence was felt in the first leg of their tie against AZ Alkmaar, where they suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat.

Osimhen’s outstanding form continues a remarkable rise in European football. He was pivotal in Napoli’s Serie A triumph during the 2022/23 season, scoring 26 league goals to win the Capocannoniere as the league’s top scorer—the first African player to achieve the feat. His performances also saw him finish eighth in the 2023 Ballon d’Or rankings.

With the summer transfer window approaching, Osimhen faces a crucial career decision. PSG presents an opportunity for Champions League football and domestic dominance, while Manchester United offers the chance to spearhead a Premier League revival under Amorim.
