Osimhen Lookman outburst draws fan criticism after Super Eagles’ 4-0 AFCON 2025 victory over Mozambique

Super Eagles striker Victor James Osimhen faced boos from fans after a heated outburst at teammate Ademola Olajide Lookman during Nigeria’s 4-0 victory over Mozambique in the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 at Fès Stadium, Morocco, on January 5, 2026.

The Galatasaray forward was filmed angrily gesturing and shouting at Lookman in the 63rd minute after the Atalanta winger missed a chance while Osimhen was unmarked.

Lookman had already provided two opportunities for Osimhen, including a direct assist and another chance created via Akor Adams.

In the footage, Osimhen separated from captain Wilfred Ndidi, pointed at Lookman, and said in pidgin, “No try am again,” meaning “do not try that again.”

He requested to be substituted shortly after and was booed off the pitch as Moses Simon replaced him.

Social media users expressed disappointment over the striker’s behaviour despite Nigeria’s commanding performance.

Influencer Emma Ik Umeh described Osimhen’s attitude as “so annoying,” noting Lookman’s prior contributions to his goals.

Other fans called the incident “very silly behaviour” and “unprofessional,” questioning the timing and necessity of the outburst.

Despite the controversy, Osimhen scored twice in the match, while Lookman contributed two assists and a goal, helping Nigeria secure its place in the quarter-finals.
