Oyo State Police arrest four suspects over defilement, murder, and unlawful possession of human parts; investigations ongoing and suspects in custody

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with defilement, murder, and unlawful possession of human parts across the state, the command confirmed on Saturday.

Olayinka Ayanlade, Public Relations Officer of the state police, disclosed the arrests in a statement made available to DAILY POST.

In Ado Awaye, 27-year-old Usman Azeez was arrested for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of a 14-year-old girl while she fetched water from a nearby river.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Azeez has confessed to the offence and is currently in police custody pending further investigation and prosecution.

Abdulraheem Koni, aged 20, was arrested following the fatal assault of his former employer, Lateef Giwa, 35, at the Tede Police Division. Police said the incident escalated from a misunderstanding, resulting in Giwa’s death.

In a separate Ibadan case, 22-year-old Lawal Ibrahim allegedly stabbed 18-year-old Raimi Ige with a broken bottle. The victim later died while being conveyed to Adeoyo State Hospital, where the corpse has been deposited for post-mortem examination.

Additionally, operatives of the Federal Highway Patrol intercepted a commercial vehicle along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway near Guru Maharaji Village.

A search revealed a red cloth containing bones and other items suspected to be human remains. The driver, Kazeem Ayegbo, travelling from Lagos to Osogbo, was apprehended.

Ayanlade confirmed that all suspects are in police custody as investigations continue, and charges will be filed in accordance with the law.
