Scholes had previously posted on Instagram after Carrick suffered his first loss in charge of the Red Devils, drawing criticism from fans and former teammates.

Speaking on the GoodBadFootball podcast, Scholes clarified his intentions, emphasizing his respect for Carrick.

“Michael is one of the nicest guys in football, and he’s the last person I would aim to offend,” Scholes said.

He added, “I reached out to Michael immediately, assuring him that I never intended to upset him. I think people have just taken it differently from what was meant. The only thing I was saying was that I don’t think they played that well the last four games, and he is still managing to get results.”

Scholes’ comments had earlier drawn criticism from former teammate Patrice Evra, who expressed disapproval of his remarks.
