Anambra community in shock after pregnant nurse ritual killing. Victim lured, murdered, and dumped in pit; organs reportedly missing. Police yet to respond

Residents of Umueri village in Ogbunike, Anambra State, have been left stunned by the gruesome murder of a pregnant nurse, allegedly killed for ritual purposes.

The suspect, identified as Chiemelie Oborji, reportedly lured the victim under the pretext that his mother was ill. Upon arrival, the woman was allegedly butchered and dumped in a pit near the suspect’s compound. He is said to have fled immediately after committing the crime.

A community member, posting under the name Iroko Ogbunike, claimed the nurse’s body showed signs of mutilation, with vital organs missing.

“Unconfirmed news also suggest that parts of the nurse’s body were missing, raising strong suspicions of a ritual killing,” he wrote.

A viral Facebook video viewed by press showed villagers retrieving the woman’s body from the pit. One youth involved in the recovery described the act as “unjust treatment” and declared the suspect “wanted in the entire community.”

The Anambra State Police Command has not issued an official statement. Attempts by press to reach spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga were unsuccessful, as his phone remained unreachable.

The village remains tense as residents await further action from security agencies investigating the matter.
