PSG beat Chelsea Champions League clash 3-0 at Stamford Bridge, advancing 8-2 on aggregate to reach the quarter-finals with clinical performance

Paris Saint-Germain ended any hope of a Chelsea comeback with a dominant 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, advancing 8-2 on aggregate to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring early, outmuscling Chelsea defender Mamadou Sarr and beating goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

Bradley Barcola doubled the lead on 15 minutes with a superb strike after a slick buildup from Achraf Hakimi and Warren Zaire-Emery.

Substitute Senny Mayulu completed the scoring in the second half, firing home a lethal first-time finish following Kvaratskhelia’s delivery from the left flank.

The Qatar-backed side, defending Champions League holders, will face either Liverpool or Galatasaray in the last eight, after the Turkish team takes a 1-0 first-leg advantage to Anfield on Wednesday.

PSG’s win also avenged their loss to Chelsea in last July’s Club World Cup final and demonstrated their growing form at the perfect moment in the season.

Chelsea, under Liam Rosenior, struggled to recover from their 5-2 first-leg defeat in Paris.

The Blues offered few chances, and their hopes were extinguished early, with fans leaving Stamford Bridge as the second goal was scored.

Adding to Chelsea’s woes, Trevoh Chalobah was stretchered off late in the game, leaving the hosts with 10 men and no substitutes remaining.

PSG, meanwhile, benefited from fresher legs as their weekend Ligue 1 fixture against Nantes was postponed, allowing them to focus entirely on the knockout tie.

The victory highlights the Parisians’ clinical efficiency in Europe this season and keeps their dream of retaining the Champions League alive.
