Liverpool icon Steve Nicol says the Reds should not be overconfident against Galatasaray, highlighting Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen’s threat in the Champions League

Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has warned that the Reds should not be treated as overwhelming favourites against Galatasaray in their UEFA Champions League second-leg clash.

Nicol highlighted the danger posed by Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, who has been pivotal for Galatasaray this season.

Osimhen scored seven goals and provided three assists in nine Champions League matches and proved decisive when Galatasaray defeated Liverpool earlier in the group stage.

“Liverpool have just capitulated against what is currently the worst team in the Premier League,” Nicol said in an interview with ESPN FC.

“And they are 1-0 down to Galatasaray, who have a player like Osimhen upfront, capable of winning any match single-handedly with a moment of magic and brilliance. I cannot comprehend how Liverpool can be such a significant favourite after what we witnessed over the weekend.”

Galatasaray enters the second leg at Anfield with a slight advantage after a 1-0 first-leg win at RAMS Park. Despite not scoring in the match, Osimhen constantly threatened Liverpool’s defence and even had a goal disallowed for offside.
