Real Madrid Reject Offers for 3 Midfielders

The reported interest, understood to have come from Premier League clubs, has not persuaded Real Madrid to open the door for any of the three players.

According to reports attributed to Marca, the club did not entertain the approach for Valverde, while enquiries about Tchouaméni and Camavinga were also not pursued.

The stance is significant because Real Madrid have been reshaping their midfield during a summer of considerable change.

The club have already secured the arrival of Bernardo Silva, who signed an agreement to join Real Madrid until June 30, 2028.

Real Madrid’s decision also reflects the depth of experience already available to Mourinho. Valverde, Tchouaméni and Camavinga have all featured regularly in the first-team setup, with the club’s official squad lists repeatedly including the trio among its midfield options.

Valverde’s position appears particularly clear. The Uruguay international returned to pre-season training in July after the World Cup and spoke warmly about remaining at the club.

“I am very happy to be here for another year, at the best club in the world,” Valverde said after completing his first pre-season session under Mourinho.

The 27-year-old has also taken on greater responsibility after being appointed Real Madrid’s first captain. That leadership role makes his reported availability particularly sensitive, even though the latest indications point firmly towards his continued presence in Madrid.

Tchouaméni, meanwhile, remains an established option in the centre of midfield. The 26-year-old has been used in a variety of roles since joining Real Madrid from Monaco and featured prominently during the club’s 2025/26 campaign. He also represented France at the 2026 World Cup alongside Kylian Mbappé.

His own public comments have offered little indication of a desire to leave. After reaching 150 appearances for Real Madrid last season, Tchouaméni described the achievement as “a dream come true” and said he hoped to play many more games and win more trophies with the club.

Camavinga’s situation has attracted more speculation during the summer, partly because of competition for places in Mourinho’s midfield. Yet the Frenchman has also made clear that his focus remains on continuing his career at the Santiago Bernabéu.

After reaching 100 LaLiga victories in May, Camavinga spoke about his ambitions for the following season and said his objective was to help Real Madrid compete for every major trophy.

Real Madrid also have a long-term commitment to Camavinga. The club renewed his contract in November 2023, extending his agreement until June 2029.

The latest transfer developments therefore point towards continuity rather than another major midfield departure.

That is notable given the uncertainty surrounding the position earlier in the summer, when Real Madrid were strongly linked with Manchester City midfielder Rodri Hernández.

Rodri now appears increasingly likely to join Barcelona, with reports indicating that the Spain international has chosen the Catalan club over Real Madrid. The reported move would represent a significant twist after Real Madrid had pursued the 30-year-old midfielder.

The failure to land Rodri has made the retention of existing midfielders even more important.

Recent reporting indicates that Real Madrid now believe the squad has sufficient options in the position, with Mourinho expected to make use of Bernardo Silva in a central role alongside his established midfielders.

Mourinho’s arrival has already added a fresh layer of scrutiny to Real Madrid’s squad planning.

The Portuguese manager returned to the club with the task of ending a difficult period without major silverware, following a campaign in which Real Madrid failed to win LaLiga or the Champions League. Reuters has described the appointment as a high-risk move intended to restore the club’s competitiveness.

Bernardo Silva offers experience and technical quality, while Valverde, Tchouaméni and Camavinga provide different combinations of athleticism, defensive work and versatility.

For now, the message from Real Madrid is clear. Despite interest from England, the club are not prepared to weaken a midfield that Mourinho considers capable of supporting his plans for the new campaign.

The decision could prove important as Real Madrid attempt to close the gap on Barcelona and challenge for major honours again.

With Valverde carrying the responsibility of the captaincy and Tchouaméni and Camavinga still viewed as valuable members of the squad, the club appear determined to preserve their midfield core rather than respond to external interest.
