Lewis-Skelly offered to Chelsea and Man Utd after Arsenal’s £75m Bruno Guimaraes signing puts the 19-year-old’s future under scrutiny

Arsenal midfielder Myles Lewis-Skelly has reportedly been offered to Chelsea and Manchester United as the Premier League champions consider their options for the 19-year-old following the £75 million arrival of Bruno Guimaraes.

The development has raised fresh questions over Lewis-Skelly’s future at the Emirates Stadium, just over a year after the England international signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal.

According to the latest reports, Arsenal have made Lewis-Skelly available to several Premier League clubs, with Chelsea and Manchester United among those alerted to his situation.

The Guardian reports that Manchester United have been approached as the club considers options for its left-back position, while Chelsea have also been informed of his availability.

The reports do not mean that Lewis-Skelly has been formally put up for sale or that either Chelsea or Manchester United have submitted an offer. Both clubs are understood to be assessing whether a move would make sense.

The situation follows Arsenal’s significant investment in Bruno Guimaraes. The Brazil international completed a move from Newcastle United worth £75 million earlier this month after Arsenal made him a priority target for the new campaign.

Guimaraes’ arrival has increased competition in an already talented Arsenal midfield and could make regular first-team opportunities harder to secure for Lewis-Skelly.

Lewis-Skelly’s versatility is nevertheless one of his most attractive qualities. Although naturally a midfielder, the teenager made his breakthrough at senior level primarily as a left-back and demonstrated that he could operate comfortably in several positions.

His emergence at Arsenal had initially appeared to place him firmly within the club’s long-term plans.

Lewis-Skelly joined Arsenal’s Hale End academy at the age of eight and progressed through the club’s youth system before establishing himself in Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad.

During the 2024/25 season, he made 39 first-team appearances in all competitions and became one of the most exciting young players to emerge from the Arsenal academy. He also made his England senior debut during the same campaign.

His performances earned him a new contract in June 2025, with Arsenal confirming a long-term agreement for the academy graduate.

At the time, Lewis-Skelly made clear that his ambitions were firmly tied to the north London club.

“I’m so proud and happy,” Lewis-Skelly said after signing the contract. “I’m a fan and it’s like a dream come true.”

The teenager also spoke of his desire to build a lasting legacy at Arsenal and compete for major trophies.

The subsequent campaign, however, proved more difficult from an individual perspective. Despite Arsenal winning the Premier League title, Lewis-Skelly struggled to command a regular starting place.

The Guardian reports that he made 36 appearances across all competitions during the 2025/26 season but started only five Premier League matches.

That lack of regular league football has now become an important part of the discussion around his future.

Arsenal’s decision to invest heavily in Guimaraes could further alter the midfield picture. The Brazilian brings Premier League experience, physicality and technical quality after several influential seasons at Newcastle.

The move also carries financial significance. Arsenal have reportedly spent £75 million on Guimaraes, and the possibility of selling Lewis-Skelly for a substantial fee would allow the club to recover part of that investment while reshaping the squad.

The Guardian reports that Lewis-Skelly’s potential transfer value could be around £45 million.

Manchester United are among the clubs considering the situation as they continue to examine options at left-back.

United have also been linked with Newcastle’s Lewis Hall, although Newcastle’s new manager Matthias Jaissle is understood to be reluctant to lose another important player after the departures of Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon.

Lewis-Skelly’s versatility could therefore make him an appealing alternative for United, particularly given his experience in both midfield and defence.

Chelsea have also been informed about the player’s availability, although the level of interest from the west London club remains less certain.

For Arsenal, the decision would carry a significant sporting dimension. Lewis-Skelly is still only 19 and has already demonstrated that he can perform at Premier League and international level.

Selling him now could provide immediate financial flexibility, but it would also mean giving up on a player who was regarded as one of the academy’s brightest prospects only a year ago.

The timing makes the situation particularly intriguing. Arsenal have just strengthened their midfield with one of the Premier League’s established performers, while Lewis-Skelly is entering an important stage of his development in which consistent first-team football could be crucial.

For Lewis-Skelly, the attraction of a move would similarly depend on the opportunity for regular football rather than simply the identity of his next club.
