Ron Kenoly tribute: PFN honours the late gospel singer, celebrating his spiritual legacy and global influence in worship music

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) paid a heartfelt tribute to legendary American gospel singer Ron Kenoly following his death at age 81.

The announcement of Kenoly’s passing on 3 February 2026 prompted an outpouring of condolences from gospel communities, ministers, and worshippers worldwide.

PFN President Bishop Francis Wale-Oke described Kenoly as “a true worshipper who gave his life to the glory of God” in a Facebook post on 4 February 2026.

He praised the singer’s profound spiritual depth, noting his ability to move hearts through both word and song.

“He carried the presence of God wherever he ministered, lifting hearts and nations into the atmosphere of worship and reverence,” Wale-Oke wrote, highlighting Kenoly’s impact in Nigeria and internationally.

He also offered prayers for the late singer’s family, seeking comfort and strength in their time of grief.

Born on 6 December 1944 in Coffeyville, Kansas, Kenoly rose to global prominence with energetic worship performances and choir-backed recordings. Over his career, he released more than 20 albums, including Jesus Is Alive (1991), Ancient of Days (1992), God Is Able (1994), and High Places: The Best of Ron Kenoly.

His music significantly shaped contemporary praise and worship styles across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Kenoly also served as a respected pastor and worship leader at Jubilee Christian Centre in San Jose, California, frequently participating in international conferences and seminars.

His legacy continues to influence worship leaders and congregations worldwide.

Bishop Wale-Oke concluded his tribute with a biblical reflection: “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord… that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. Revelation 14:13.”
