Sa’ad-Mustapha submitted her letter of intent at the state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress on Friday, signalling her entry into what is expected to be a competitive primary contest.

Addressing supporters shortly after the declaration, she said her ambition is rooted in a commitment to inclusive governance and equal opportunity.

She stated that her decision was driven by a strong sense of duty to serve the people, with a focus on ensuring that women move from the margins to active participation in leadership.

Popularly known by her traditional title, Alkebbar Kaltungo, Sa’ad-Mustapha previously served as Director General of Protocol and Facility Management under Muhammadu Yahaya.

Her entry into the race has sparked renewed discussion on gender inclusion in politics, particularly in Nigeria’s North-East, where female representation in top elective offices remains limited.

Outlining her vision, she presented a six-point agenda centred on economic development, youth and women empowerment, education, healthcare, infrastructure and security.
