Sahara Group highlights Africa energy transition at NIES 2026, urging investment, collaboration, and sustainable growth across the continent

Sahara Group on Tuesday joined policymakers, regulators, and global energy partners at the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) in Abuja, emphasising its commitment to shaping a sustainable, innovative, and globally competitive energy sector across Africa.

Wale Ajibade, Executive Director of Sahara Group, described Africa as “the new frontier for an energy renaissance poised to redefine global energy balance.”

He said the continent’s full potential can only be realised through bold investments, strategic collaboration, and regulatory alignment.

Ajibade highlighted Sahara Group’s three decades of operations, noting the company’s focus on competitiveness, innovation, and sustainability.

He urged African operators to deepen collaboration and invest in long-term capacity expansion, while calling on regulators to harmonise policies to foster a predictable and investor-friendly environment.

He stressed that Africa’s energy transition must be responsible, inclusive, and context-driven, maximising the use of transition fuels to accelerate industrial growth and improve living standards.

Ajibade commended the Federal Government of Nigeria and regulatory agencies including NNPCL, NMDPRA, and NUPRC for driving sectoral transformation.

He reaffirmed Sahara Group’s commitment to technology investment, human capital development, and strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening Africa’s energy security and competitiveness.
