Speaking in Makurdi on Friday while hosting members of the PDP G-14 and other stakeholders from 14 local government areas, Ortom declared that the party was on course to return to power in 2027, provided members remained united and focused.

The G-14, a body of PDP elders drawn from Benue North-East and North-West senatorial districts, met with Ortom to discuss the party’s rebuilding efforts ahead of the next political cycle.

Dismissing reports suggesting plans to defect from the PDP, the immediate past governor described such rumours as the “work of mischief makers,” stressing his unwavering loyalty to the party.

“What is required of all of us is to remain resolute and work together to build this party. I can assure you that if we remain united, the PDP will reclaim power in the state in the coming election,” Ortom said confidently.

He assured party members that he had no intention of contesting any elective position in 2027, pledging instead to support all PDP candidates to ensure the party’s resounding victory.

Ortom urged stakeholders not to be discouraged by recent defections to the ruling party, advising aspirants to consult widely and prioritise internal harmony.
