De la Fuente contract runs to 2032 after Spain’s federation kept the World Cup-winning coach for two Euros and the 2030 World Cup

On Monday, 21 September 2026, the Royal Spanish Football Federation said national team head coach Luis de la Fuente would sign a new De la Fuente contract keeping him in the job until 2032.

The RFEF said Luis de la Fuente would stay through the European Championships in 2028 and 2032 and the 2030 World Cup.

Luis de la Fuente, 65, took the senior post in 2022 after Luis Enrique and has since won the 2026 World Cup, Euro 2024 and the 2023 UEFA Nations League. He had already spent a decade with Spain’s youth sides.

Rafael Louzan, chair of the Spanish FA board of directors, said the deal matched that record. “We’re talking about the most successful head coach in the history of the national team, and after 14 years with us, this is something Luis de la Fuente deserves, a long-term future at the RFEF,” Rafael Louzan said.

Spain’s next matches come in the Nations League window. Spain play England on 26 September, host Croatia in Seville on 29 September, face the Czech Republic in Oviedo on 3 October and travel to Croatia on 6 October.

The federation has not published the salary attached to the De la Fuente contract. The term itself is now on the record: Luis de la Fuente is scheduled to remain Spain coach through 2032.
