Sunday Oliseh urges Michael Olise to play for Nigeria instead of France, praising the Bayern Munich winger’s talent and Ballon d’Or potential

Former Super Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh has called on Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise to represent Nigeria at international level instead of France, praising his quality and potential to reach elite global heights.

Oliseh made the remarks on his Global Football Insights Podcast, ahead of Bayern Munich’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final second-leg clash against Real Madrid.

The former midfielder described Olise as an exceptional talent, stating that the winger has the ability to compete for the Ballon d’Or in the future if his development continues.

Oliseh expressed frustration that the player represents France rather than Nigeria, saying he believes Olise would have been a major asset to the Super Eagles setup.

He highlighted Olise’s technical ability and composure under pressure, noting that defenders often struggle to contain him due to his skill and creativity in attacking positions.

Michael Olise, born in England to a Nigerian father and a French-Algerian mother, currently plays international football for France after choosing them over Nigeria, England and Algeria at senior level.

The 24-year-old has continued to rise in prominence at club level, earning recognition for his performances in the Bundesliga since joining Bayern Munich.
