Ondo State Police arrest three suspects involved in the attack on NANS members in Ogbese. The investigation continues as suspects face charges

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the attack on members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Ogbese, Akure North Local Government Area.

The attack occurred on Sunday, February 23, as the NANS members were traveling to Abuja for their annual convention.

Funmilayo Odunlami, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ondo State, confirmed the arrests in a statement released on Tuesday in Akure.

According to Odunlami, the police responded promptly after receiving a distress call from one of the NANS members, who reported an unprovoked attack by a group of youths in the Ogbese area.

The police immediately rushed to the scene, restoring order and ensuring the safety of the victims. A manhunt was swiftly launched to track down the individuals responsible for the attack.

Intelligence gathered during the investigation revealed that this was not the first time NANS members had been targeted in the same area.

Through diligent intelligence-led policing, the police command’s special squad successfully apprehended three suspects linked to the assault. The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation, and will be charged in court once the investigation is concluded.

The Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, reassured the public and NANS members that the police were committed to conducting a thorough investigation to uncover all the details behind the attack and ensure that all individuals involved are brought to justice.
