Tiwa Savage Afrobeats message stresses humility, warning stars against pride as she praises Ayra Starr, Tems, and Diamond Platnumz

Tiwa Savage Afrobeats message has resonated widely after the global superstar urged fellow artists to remain humble despite the genre’s explosive growth and international recognition.

Speaking in a candid interview with Hot 97 FM in New York, the award-winning singer reminded colleagues that they are merely ambassadors of Afrobeats, not the movement itself.

“We are just ambassadors, we are just like the faces of Afrobeats. And that’s why we can’t let it get into our heads because we are just vessels and there can be somebody else. God can take it away like that.

So, you have to be grounded. You have to be humble,” she cautioned.

Savage went on to warn that the pain of falling from fame is far greater than never achieving it at all. “Imagine, coming this far and then falling.

That is worse than not ever tasting fame. I would rather have never seen in my life than seen and lose my sight. That is worse to me,” she explained, emphasising humility as her guiding principle.

Beyond the warning, Tiwa also spoke warmly of her admiration for fellow African stars. She confessed to having a near “obsession” with Ayra Starr, noting that the younger singer represents a more confident version of herself.

“I love Ayra Starr, it’s almost an obsession. I see myself in her, but I see a more confident one,” Savage said, praising Ayra’s fearless approach to criticism.

She further lauded Grammy winner Tems for maintaining an enigmatic aura. “I love the mystery behind Tems. You don’t know too much about her and she doesn’t care,” she noted.

Expanding her praise beyond Nigeria, Savage also applauded Tanzanian icon Diamond Platnumz for his artistry and cultural impact. “I love Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania. He is so talented and he has put his community on the map,” she added.
