Tupac Shakur final moments were laid bare in an emotional interview by Suge Knight, speaking from prison about the iconic rapper’s tragic end.

The former Death Row Records CEO opened up to People Magazine about the unforgettable day when Tupac begged his mother, Afeni Shakur, to let him go after being revived by doctors.

According to Knight, Tupac was in excruciating pain following the 1996 drive-by shooting that eventually claimed his life. The rapper had been fighting for survival at University Hospital in Las Vegas.

Knight claims that when doctors managed to revive him at one point, his mother intervened to stop them from prolonging his suffering.

“The doctors came in and brought him back. And his mom said, ‘Don’t ever do that again. If he’s having complications, don’t touch him. Don’t bring him back.

Let him go,’” Knight recalled solemnly. He added that Afeni then gave her son some pills to ease his pain, helping him pass peacefully.

Tupac died on 13 September 1996, five days after the shooting. The world mourned the loss of a legend, but Knight says there was more to the story that fans never knew.

He revealed that Tupac had imagined a grand farewell, even picturing rappers kissing him from head to toe at his funeral, as described in his song Life Goes On.

However, Afeni Shakur made the controversial decision to cremate her son instead. Knight claimed that he paid \$1 million in cash for the cremation to be carried out by an affiliate. Even more shockingly, he said that some of Tupac’s ashes were later smoked by his close friends.

“I was probably the only one who didn’t hit him,” Knight said, laughing. “I was on probation then, so I couldn’t take any risks.”

The revelations add a deeply human and unsettling layer to the mythos surrounding Tupac Shakur’s legacy. His death has remained one of hip hop’s most painful mysteries, wrapped in layers of speculation and conspiracy.

The fatal shooting occurred during a time of intense rivalry between the East Coast and West Coast hip hop scenes. The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac’s perceived rival, was also gunned down in a similar drive-by six months later, in March 1997.

In a major development decades later, Duane “Keffe D” Davis was arrested in September 2023 in connection with Tupac’s murder. He remains in custody and is expected to face trial in February 2026. His arrest rekindled public interest in a case many thought would never see resolution.
