UK-based Nigerian divorce trends online after a man confirmed the end of his marriage following infidelity allegations
A United Kingdom-based Nigerian man identified on X as Ugo has confirmed the end of his marriage after publicly accusing his wife of infidelity while he worked abroad and funded the family’s lifestyle and education.
The development followed a series of emotional social media posts shared by Ugo, which quickly went viral and sparked widespread debate online.
In a follow-up update on Monday, Ugo disclosed that the marriage had been officially dissolved after he received confirmation of a final order from the United Kingdom courts.
“UGO’s wife. Divorce is finalised. It’s ex-wife,” he wrote in one of the posts.
The UK-Based Nigerian Divorce story attracted significant attention on social media, partly because the couple’s relationship had previously been admired by many online followers.
According to Ugo, the relationship progressed rapidly after he proposed in January 2023 before they got married in December of the same year.
The couple later welcomed a child in 2024, after which he relocated his wife to the United Kingdom.
Ugo claimed he handled the family’s financial responsibilities, including paying his wife’s tuition fees and supporting her through pregnancy and childbirth.
He also stated that he developed digital applications to support his wife and child as part of his efforts to build a stable family life.
Following the birth of their child, he reportedly bought her a car as a “push gift,” a gesture that gained attention online at the time and was celebrated by many social media users.
The relationship, however, later deteriorated after allegations of infidelity emerged.
In now-deleted posts, Ugo accused his wife of bringing another man into their home while he remained in London working to support the family financially.
“It’s crazy you’re in my house, sleeping with another man, but I’m in London working my ass out to pay your school fees in GBP,” he wrote in one of the viral posts.
He also alleged that members of his wife’s family failed to condemn the situation and instead continued requesting financial support for her education.
The allegations triggered mixed reactions online, with some social media users sympathising with him while others criticised him for discussing private marital issues publicly.
Several users also revisited older posts in which Ugo openly displayed affection towards his wife on social media, while noting that she largely maintained a low public profile.
To further confirm the separation, Ugo later shared a screenshot reportedly showing an official divorce notification from the United Kingdom HM Courts and Tribunals Service indicating that the final order had been granted.
The document legally ended the marriage and brought a dramatic close to a relationship that had once been celebrated widely on social media platforms.
