Mayorkun credits Davido for Sony deal despite having exited Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) in 2021, clearing the air on assumptions of a fallout between the two music stars.

In a recent interview with Ghana’s 3Music TV, the award-winning singer disclosed that Davido played an instrumental role in helping him land his current contract with Sony Music Africa.

“Aside from having my label, right now I am also with Sony Africa. Shout out to Davido for that as well, he facilitated the deal,” Mayorkun said, acknowledging the enduring support from his former record label boss.

Mayorkun, whose real name is Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, signed with DMW in 2016 and rose to prominence under Davido’s mentorship, releasing several hit songs during his tenure. His departure in 2021 sparked speculation of tension between the two, as he pursued new directions in his career.

However, this recent revelation not only dispels rumours of strained ties but also highlights the strength of their professional relationship beyond contractual boundaries.
