Victor Osimhen donates ₦5 million to support popular online food vendor Aunty Esther’s breast cancer treatment, inspiring gratitude from fans

Super Eagles striker and Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen has donated ₦5 million to assist with the medical treatment of popular online food vendor and Twitter personality, Aunty Esther, who is battling breast cancer.

The contribution came after Osimhen viewed a distressing video of Esther Omolola Mensah, popularly known as Aunty Esther, in a hospital bed, revealing the severity of her illness.

The footage, widely circulated on social media, prompted an outpouring of support from users across Nigeria.

Known for sourcing and delivering market items to her followers, Aunty Esther had built a loyal online community.

However, her business ground to a halt as her health deteriorated, prompting supporters to mobilise funds and ensure immediate medical attention.

Doctors confirmed that Esther required extensive and costly treatment, leading to the creation of a verified fundraising account.

Thousands of Nigerians have since contributed, with Osimhen’s ₦5 million transfer on Wednesday marking the largest donation.

The gesture sparked a heartfelt response from the beneficiary, who publicly expressed her gratitude. Social media users joined in, praising the striker for his kindness.

Osimhen’s act comes during a challenging period in his own season.

The forward missed Galatasaray’s Champions League match against Union Saint-Gilloise due to injury, watching as his team fell 1–0.

He has scored six goals in just three Champions League appearances this season, helping secure wins over Liverpool, Bodo/Glimt, and Ajax.
