Wike transforms Abuja, says Ali Modu Sheriff, despite calling him a “rascal.” Sheriff praises Wike’s unmatched development since FCT’s creation

Wike transforms Abuja, and not even his bold personality can overshadow that fact—according to former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff.

In a candid interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Sheriff praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s unprecedented development efforts, stating that no previous minister has matched his achievements in the capital city’s history.

“I’m not a fan of Wike. Wike’s character is that of a rascal, but you cannot take away from him that he has changed Abuja,” Sheriff said bluntly.

Highlighting projects in security, sanitation, lighting, and revenue generation, Sheriff acknowledged Wike’s results-driven leadership since assuming office in August 2023.

Sheriff contrasted Wike with other ministers he accused of misleading the public and noted that regional origin should not define effective leadership. “Wike is not from Abuja, he is from Rivers, he is changing Abuja,” he emphasized.

He also cited Dele Alake’s work in Nasarawa as another example of impactful leadership beyond ethnic lines.

Wike’s administration has faced criticism, including allegations of land mismanagement, but Sheriff insisted that his “rascality” is tolerable given the visible transformation taking place across the FCT.
