Wolves manager search continues as Collins and Walker take interim charge against Chelsea following Vitor Pereira’s sacking

Wolves manager search has taken another twist as the club continues its hunt for a permanent successor to Vitor Pereira, who was sacked earlier this week.

According to Sky Sports News’ Lyall Thomas, James Collins and Richard Walker are expected to lead the side when they travel to face Chelsea on Saturday, with no clear first-choice candidate yet identified.

Collins, the club’s U21 coach, and Walker, who manages the U18s, have been overseeing training sessions at Molineux since Pereira’s departure.

Both are set to remain in temporary charge for the crucial fixture at Stamford Bridge.

Despite holding talks with several potential candidates, Wolves’ search has stalled.

Figures such as Rob Edwards, Erik ten Hag, and Rui Vitoria have all been linked, but none are believed to be realistic options at this stage.

Vitoria, most recently in charge of Panathinaikos, was the latest name to surface, though Wolves sources suggest no agreement is close.

Edwards, now managing Middlesbrough, distanced himself from speculation, insisting he remains focused on his current role.

“I’m just concentrating on my job here,” he said following his side’s draw with Leicester City. “That’s absolutely my only focus.”

Former Manchester United manager Ten Hag, dismissed by Bayer Leverkusen, is also not expected to make the move to the Premier League strugglers.

Talks with former boss Gary O’Neil—who is still being paid by the club following his sacking last year—have reportedly broken down, forcing Wolves to reassess their approach.

Sporting operations are now being led by Matt Jackson following Dominico Teti’s exit, though the influence of super-agent Jorge Mendes continues to linger in the background.

For now, all eyes turn to Collins and Walker, who must rally the team sitting bottom of the Premier League table as they prepare for one of the most challenging away fixtures of the season.
