Fiorentina’s move for Tolu Arokodare is rejected by Wolves as the Nigerian forward attracts interest from clubs in Italy and Turkey

Wolves Reject Fiorentina Bid for Nigeria international forward Tolu Arokodare, with Wolverhampton Wanderers turning down an approach from Italian club Fiorentina as interest in the striker continues to increase during the summer transfer window.

The Premier League side rejected Fiorentina’s proposal after the Serie A club identified Arokodare as a potential attacking option for head coach Fabio Grosso.

The Italian club had been exploring forward options while waiting on developments surrounding a possible move for winger Luca Koleosho.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, via FirenzeViola, Fiorentina’s attempt to secure the Nigerian forward was unsuccessful, leaving the club to consider other targets.

Arokodare has attracted attention from several European sides, with Turkish club Trabzonspor also making an approach for the 24-year-old.

Reports from Turkish journalist Zeki Uzundurukan indicated that Trabzonspor submitted a loan proposal as they search for a possible replacement for Nigeria striker Paul Onuachu, should he leave the club.

However, any potential transfer may depend not only on Wolves’ decision but also on Arokodare’s own preference. The Nigerian forward is reportedly not keen on leaving the English club at this stage.

Arokodare joined Wolves from Belgian side Genk in the summer of 2025 on a four-year contract, with an option for an additional season.

His first campaign in England proved challenging, as he made 33 Premier League appearances, starting only 13 matches and featuring mainly as a substitute.

Despite limited starting opportunities, the striker remains highly regarded because of his physical presence, attacking ability and previous goalscoring record in Belgium.

Trabzonspor are not the only Turkish club monitoring the situation, with Besiktas and Fenerbahce also linked with the forward.

Besiktas reportedly saw a €15m verbal offer rejected by Wolves and have sought assistance from former Nigeria international Daniel Amokachi and Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi in their efforts to convince Arokodare.

Wolves are believed to favour a permanent transfer rather than a loan arrangement as the club looks to recover a significant portion of the £24m spent to sign Arokodare from Genk.

However, the striker’s valuation could make an outright deal difficult, increasing the possibility of a temporary move to another European league.

With several clubs monitoring his situation, Arokodare’s future is expected to remain one of the notable transfer stories involving Nigerian players this summer.
