Barcelona, Lyon, and Chelsea secure Women’s Champions League quarter-final spots, while Arsenal and Manchester United enter the play-offs

Barcelona, Lyon, and Chelsea have secured places in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Champions League, while Arsenal and Manchester United must go through the play-off round.

Spanish champions Barcelona finished the league phase unbeaten with a 2-0 victory away at Paris FC, courtesy of goals from Vicky Lopez and Caroline Graham Hansen.

The result allowed Barcelona to top the group on goal difference over Lyon, who also finished with 16 points.

Barcelona have reached the final in each of the past five seasons, winning three times.

Lyon dominated Atletico Madrid 4-0, with an own goal from Vilde Boe Risa, a penalty by captain Wendie Renard, and strikes from Kadidiatou Diani and Korbin Schrader sealing the win. Atletico were reduced to 10 players during the match.

Chelsea came from behind to beat Wolfsburg 2-1, with Alexandra Popp scoring for the hosts before Lucy Bronze and Sam Kerr turned the match in the Blues’ favour.

Bayern Munich claimed the final automatic quarter-final spot with a 3-0 win over Valerenga, edging out Arsenal and Manchester United by a single point.

Arsenal defeated Leuven 3-0 with goals from Olivia Smith, Beth Mead, and an own goal by Saar Janssen.

Despite their fourth straight win, Arsenal’s slow start left them needing the play-offs.

Manchester United beat Juventus 1-0, thanks to a Jess Park finish, finishing level with Arsenal on 12 points.

The Women’s Champions League knockout draw is scheduled for Thursday, setting up the last-eight fixtures.
