Xavi 2026 World Cup prediction sees Brazil, Spain, France, Portugal and Argentina as favourites for the tournament set to kick off this summer

Former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernández has made a striking prediction ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, naming five nations he believes are strong contenders for the title during an appearance on Romario’s YouTube channel.

Xavi Hernández identified Brazil, Spain, France, Portugal and Argentina as the leading favourites for the tournament, which is set to begin in the summer of 2026, with Argentina entering as the defending champions following their triumph in 2022.

The former Spain international praised Brazil’s prospects, highlighting the influence of their coach Carlo Ancelotti and the depth of talent available to the squad.

“They [Brazil] can be champions. First, because Ancelotti is their coach who brings out the best in players and second, because Brazil dominates at the World Cup. They have good players. Ancelotti always competes,” Xavi said.

Xavi Hernández also pointed to Spain, France, Portugal and Argentina as serious contenders, suggesting that these teams possess the quality and experience needed to compete at the highest level of international football.

He added that Germany appears less likely to challenge for the title, although he acknowledged that England could still mount a strong campaign if they build momentum during the tournament.
