Women from the Yagba Federal Constituency in Kogi State have passionately appealed to their federal lawmaker, Elder Leke Abejide, to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing his developmental achievements and the strategic benefits of his presence in the ruling party

Women across the three local government areas of Yagba Federal Constituency (Mopamuro, Yagba East, and Yagba West) in Kogi State have made a fervent appeal to their federal lawmaker, Elder Leke Abejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). This appeal follows a similar call made by council chairmen, political leaders, and stakeholders in Lokoja.

Speaking at a gathering in Isanlu, the headquarters of the federal constituency, Hajia Olusegun Silifat Abidemi, Majority Leader of Yagba East LGA, highlighted the reasons for their plea.

She emphasized that Abejide’s presence in the ruling party would strategically strengthen the party’s influence in the state and be a significant asset.

“Today, we gather to honour the outstanding accomplishments of Hon. Leke Abejide, a rare breed, detribalised, articulate, credible, reliable, and a champion of our community’s development,” Abidemi stated. “His commitment to improving lives is evident in his numerous initiatives.”

She listed Abejide’s notable achievements, including road construction, support for traditional leaders, loan schemes for petty traders, grants for women’s cooperative societies and farmers, donations of health equipment to hospitals, scholarship awards, payment of examination fees for students, and employment facilitation.

“We are asking him to return to the house he co-built. We are not asking him to join the APC. Rather, we are begging him to join the APC party to support our dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Usman Ododo in Kogi. It will be a plus if he joins us in APC,” Chief Joel Ebun stated.

Chief Joel Ebun, another woman, urged Abejide to return to the APC, a party he helped build. “We, the women of Yagba Federal Constituency, urge Rt. Hon. Abejide to join the All Progressives Congress, APC, a party that aligns with his values of progress, development, and community empowerment,” she said.

“We are asking him to return to the house he co-built. We are not asking him to join the APC. Rather, we are begging him to join the APC party to support our dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Usman Ododo in Kogi. It will be a plus if he joins us in APC.”

The Council leader for Mopamuro LGA praised Abejide’s capacity, even as an opposition member, and urged him to join the APC for greater impact.

Responding, Abejide acknowledged the women’s support and promised to consider their request. “I respect your commitment in my political struggles, I will never disappoint you,” he said.

“Aside from you, even the presidency want me back in APC. I’m still taking my time doing consultation. At the right time, I will make my position known to all.”
