Zamfara IED neutralization by military EOD experts averts potential harm to residents between Yar Danya and Maikwanugga villages

Military Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts have successfully neutralized an Improvised Explosive Device planted between Yar Danya and Maikwanugga villages in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, Zamfara State, the Defence Headquarters confirmed on 5 March 2026.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported on X that the operation occurred on 4 March at around 2:00 p.m. The IED, located along a key village route, was safely detonated by the EOD team, preventing potential harm to residents and commuters.

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, working alongside other security forces, have intensified patrols and monitoring activities in the area to safeguard local communities and deter further threats.

Makama highlighted that proactive surveillance and rapid response by the military were critical in averting what could have been a deadly incident. Residents have since expressed relief over the operation, praising the security forces for their vigilance.
