Zamfara Police rescue 25 abducted victims, including women and children, from armed bandits in Kuraje village, Gusau LGA, ensuring their safe return

The Zamfara Police Command successfully carried out a Zamfara Police Rescue operation, freeing 25 people, including ten women and fifteen children, after an armed bandit attack on Kuraje village in Damba, Gusau Local Government Area, on Friday night.

According to a statement released on Saturday by DSP Yazid Abubakar, the Public Relations Officer, joint patrol teams from Damba Division, the Department of Operations in Gusau, and the Community Protection Guards (CPG) were involved in the swift response.

“On 21st November 2025 at about 21:45 hours, a group of armed bandits in large numbers, wielding dangerous weapons and firing sporadically, attacked Kuraje village in the Damba area of Gusau LGA,” Abubakar said.

“During the attack, the assailants abducted ten women along with fifteen children, all residents of the community.”

He added that upon receiving the distress report, the teams mobilised immediately, engaged the fleeing bandits, and successfully rescued all the abducted victims unhurt.

The rescued individuals were relocated to Sabongari Damba for safety and proper profiling before being reunited with their families.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba praised the professionalism and bravery of the operatives and reassured the public of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Zamfara State.

This operation comes amid a troubling wave of abductions in Nigeria, including the kidnapping of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State, attacks on worshippers in Kwara State, and the abduction of over 300 pupils and teachers in Niger State.
