Inter Milan’s €45m bid for Ademola Lookman still falls short as Atalanta insist on €50m fee. Talks ongoing with potential resolution in coming days

Transfer negotiations between Inter Milan and Atalanta for Ademola Lookman remain in a stalemate, as both clubs have yet to agree on a fee for the Nigerian forward.

According to reports from Football Italia, Sky Sport Italia, and Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan recently increased their offer to €40 million plus €5 million in add-ons, but Atalanta remain firm on their €50 million valuation.

The ongoing discussions reached a new chapter on Tuesday during a Serie A council meeting in Milan, attended by Inter President Beppe Marotta and Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi.

While no formal breakthrough was achieved, the meeting reportedly included verbal discussions about Lookman’s valuation.

Lookman, who recently won the 2024 African Player of the Year award, has emerged as a top target for Inter this summer, with his pace, versatility, and form making him a valuable asset.

The 27-year-old is coming off a stellar campaign with Atalanta, where he played a pivotal role in their Europa League triumph.

Sources suggest Inter may be preparing a final offer of €45m plus €5m in bonuses, a package that could satisfy Atalanta’s demands. However, no official bid has yet been submitted in writing.

Marotta has hinted that a resolution  whether positive or negative  could come within “two to three days”, suggesting that Inter’s next move could be decisive.

Until then, Atalanta are holding out, maintaining that they will not sell their star attacker for less than their full asking price.
