Super Falcons WAFCON Trophy Parade dazzles Lagos as 10-time champions celebrate historic win with fans following presidential honours and cash rewards

Super Falcons WAFCON Trophy Parade turned heads in Lagos on Wednesday as Nigeria’s ten-time African champions hit the streets to celebrate their historic 2024 WAFCON title.

The parade, which began at Costain and moved through major points including Eko Bridge, Apogbon, Obalende, Ikoyi Road, and Victoria Island, concluded at Eko Hotel.

Fans waved flags and cheered the team at various stops, honoring their sensational victory.

Still buzzing from their presidential reception in Abuja, where President Bola Ahmed Tinubu awarded each player $100,000, a national honour (OON), and a three-bedroom apartment, the Falcons looked every bit the champions they are.

The Super Falcons made history last Saturday by claiming their record-extending 10th WAFCON title, rallying from two goals down to defeat host nation Morocco 3-2 in a thrilling final.

Second-half goals from Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Jennifer Echegini sealed the comeback win.

Their path to the title was nothing short of dominant topping their group with 7 points and zero goals conceded, destroying Zambia 5-0 in the quarter-finals, edging South Africa 2-1 in the semis, and staging a dramatic final comeback.

The Falcons also swept the tournament’s individual awards:
