Nigerian Army Special Forces School has been relocated to Nasarawa to strengthen elite troops’ training against evolving threats, says COAS Olufemi Oluyede

The Nigerian Army Special Forces School has been relocated from Buni Yadi in Yobe State to Doma in Nasarawa State, in what the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, described as a strategic step to better prepare elite troops for “dynamic and evolving threats.”

Laying the foundation of the new facility on Friday, August 15, at the 4 Special Forces Command in Doma Local Government Area, Oluyede explained that the move was designed to provide a safer and more suitable environment for training.

“Since my assumption of office, it has been my resolve to provide the Nigerian Army’s Special Forces with the highest quality training to enable them to compete favourably with other Special Forces anywhere in the world,” the COAS said.

He emphasized that the school would not just serve as a training ground but also as “the groundwork for a legacy of excellence, bravery, and sacrifice,” preparing troops for modern security challenges.

Oluyede charged personnel to remain resolute: “To our elite Special Forces – my indomitable warriors operating all over the country, remember that you are the unconquerable, and thus nothing should stand in your path to victory.

Nothing should deter you from doing your duty, and nothing should shake your will to fight. The only time you take a rest is when the job is done.”*

The Army Chief assured that the High Command would continue to provide training, logistics, and equipment for the troops. He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his guidance and to Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule for his “unwavering support.”

Major General Hilary Nzan, Commander of the 4 Special Forces Command, described the relocation as a bold initiative that would sharpen the capacity of Nigerian Special Forces to meet global standards.

Oluyede concluded with optimism: “It is my hope that the Nigerian Army Special Forces School, when commissioned, will become a beacon of excellence and professionalism, inspiring generations of Special Forces to excel as the elite and unconquerable force of the Nigerian Army.”
