Plateau State cattle rustlers arrested as troops raid Mangu hideout, seizing weapons and disrupting criminal activity

Plateau State cattle rustlers have been arrested in a successful military raid carried out by troops of the 3 Division/Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace.

The operation took place on September 11, 2025, in Kogul Village, located in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The military’s spokesperson, Major Samson Zhakom, confirmed the arrest in a statement released Thursday.

He said the arrest followed an intelligence-led operation aimed at dismantling a notorious cattle-rustling syndicate operating in the region.

During the operation, troops captured two well-known cattle rustlers and recovered dangerous weapons, including one AK-47 rifle, a fabricated revolver rifle, a magazine, ten rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, a mobile phone, and cash.

The Plateau State cattle rustlers and the confiscated items are currently in military custody as investigations continue.

Zhakom noted that follow-up operations are underway to apprehend other members of the criminal network believed to be behind cattle theft and armed violence in the area.

He described the arrest as “pivotal to ongoing efforts to tackle the triggers of crisis,” highlighting the commitment of troops in the Joint Operations Area.

This breakthrough marks a significant win in the military’s broader campaign to stabilize Plateau State and curb rural crime.
