Guinness World Record holder Tunde Onakoya announces a break from X, citing “overwhelming darkness” while promising to remain active on Instagram

Tunde Onakoya X Break Guinness World Record holder and Nigerian chess champion Tunde Onakoya has announced that he is stepping away from the social media platform X.

In a post on Thursday, Onakoya said the platform had become “overwhelming,” adding that he needed to protect his peace of mind.

“I feel too much darkness in the world pressing in. I will be stepping away for a while… I need to guard my heart,” he wrote.

The 29-year-old, who made global headlines in April after setting the world record for the longest chess marathon, assured fans that he would remain accessible.

He noted that important matters could be directed to his email and that he would continue sharing thoughts via Instagram.

Onakoya’s decision has drawn mixed reactions from fans, many of whom praised him for prioritizing mental wellness while others urged him to return soon.
