Tinubu appoints Governor Hope Uzodimma as Renewed Hope Ambassador to lead national mobilisation for the Ward Development Programme

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday appointed Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as Renewed Hope Ambassador ahead of the nationwide rollout of the Federal Government’s Ward Development Programme.

The appointment was announced in Abuja by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in an official statement.

Onanuga said Governor Uzodimma will also serve as Director-General for party outreach, engagement and mobilisation, placing him at the forefront of promoting the Tinubu administration’s agenda across the country.

He explained that the role takes immediate effect and will involve close collaboration with the All Progressives Congress leadership and state governors.

As Renewed Hope Ambassador, Uzodimma, who already chairs the Progressive Governors’ Forum, is expected to ensure harmony, inclusiveness and strategic coordination within the party.

Onanuga added that APC governors will likewise serve as Ambassadors of Hope in their respective states as part of a strengthened grassroots strategy.

The appointment coincides with preparations for the Federal Government’s Ward Development Programme, a flagship component of the Renewed Hope blueprint targeting the delivery of micro-projects, essential services and livelihood support across Nigeria’s 8,809 electoral wards.

Officials describe the initiative as a bold attempt to bring governance closer to the people.

The Presidency said President Tinubu expects Governor Uzodimma to lead nationwide mobilisation and highlight what it describes as progress made since 2023.

It cited seven consecutive months of easing inflation, a stabilised exchange rate and an increase in foreign reserves to over 46 billion dollars as indicators of improvement.

It also referenced rising investor confidence, expanded student loan access and reduced passport processing times.

Onanuga noted that the administration is determined to sharpen its communication strategy as it contends with public frustration over inflation and the impact of subsidy reforms.

He said the President’s message to Uzodimma emphasised the need for Nigerians to understand ongoing achievements and reforms.
