Two people died and two others were injured in a car crash along Iwuru Road in Cross River State. FRSC urges motorists to drive safely during the festive season

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that two people died and two others were injured in a car crash along Iwuru Road in Cross River State on Sunday.

Mr. Innocent Etuk, the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Cross River, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday that the accident, which occurred at Big Iwuru in Akamkpa Local Government Area, was caused by speeding.

The crash involved a commercial Toyota Hiace bus and a Lexus 350 Sports Utility Vehicle.

The bodies of the victims have been deposited in a morgue.

Etuk urged motorists to prioritise safety during the festive season, warning against speeding, alcohol consumption, distractions, and phone use while driving.

“Motorists should practice defensive driving. Plan your trips, leave early, remain emotionally stable, obey traffic rules, and stay alert. Life is priceless and cannot be duplicated,” he said.

The FRSC reiterated its commitment to reducing road accidents and called on all road users to exercise caution, especially during the holiday period.
