Ademola Lookman praises Victor Osimhen after a man of the match display as Nigeria beat Tunisia 3-2 to reach AFCON 2025 round of 16


Ademola Lookman has praised his partnership with Victor Osimhen after Nigeria’s dramatic 3-2 win over Tunisia in Fez on Saturday.

The victory secured the Super Eagles a place in the round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Lookman delivered a man of the match performance, creating two goals and scoring one.

The 2024 CAF African Player of the Year expressed satisfaction with Nigeria’s display and the three points gained.

“We are pleased with the performance today. Three points is what matters most,” Lookman said.

“We will take the positives and build on them.”

Speaking on his link-up with Osimhen, Lookman highlighted their strong understanding on the pitch.

“Victor is a good striker and we have a good relationship,” he said.

“Anywhere I can help the team, I will.”

Lookman added that playing closer to goal has increased his impact on opponents.

Nigeria raced into a 3-0 lead before Tunisia mounted a late comeback.

Goals from Montassar Talbi and Ali Abdi reduced the deficit and tested Nigeria’s resolve.

The Super Eagles, however, held on to claim a crucial win.

Lookman’s cross set up Osimhen’s opening goal just before halftime.

He later assisted Wilfred Ndidi’s header from a corner after the break.

Lookman capped his display with a left-footed strike in the 66th minute.

The win moves Nigeria to six points at the top of Group C.
