Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has lauded his players’ unity, resilience, and determination following Nigeria’s bronze medal finish at the AFCON 2025 tournament.

Nigeria secured third place after edging Egypt 4–2 in a penalty shootout on Saturday, ending the competition on a high note after narrowly missing out on a place in the final. The Super Eagles displayed composure under pressure to clinch the victory.

Speaking after the match, Chelle emphasised the importance of continuity within the squad, hinting at his intention to retain the current group of players if he remains head coach.

“My mission is to keep this group [of players], if I am still the coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, of course,” he said.

The coach also praised the players for their calmness and discipline throughout the tournament, describing the bronze medal as a well-earned reward for their commitment and hard work.
