Atalanta reduce Ademola Lookman’s asking price from €50m to €35m as Napoli, Atlético Madrid and Galatasaray circle the Super Eagles star

Serie A side Atalanta have reduced their asking price for Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman from €50 million to €35 million, amid growing interest from clubs across Europe.

Lookman’s future has been under intense speculation since last summer after the Nigerian international expressed his desire to join domestic rivals Inter Milan.

At the time, Atalanta blocked the move, insisting on a €50 million release clause and citing an understanding with the player that ruled out a transfer to another Serie A club.

However, with several European teams continuing to monitor the forward, Atalanta have now softened their stance. According to transfer specialist Ekrem Konur, the Bergamo-based club has lowered its valuation to €35 million in a move that could accelerate negotiations.

While a dip in club form this season may have influenced the revised fee, Lookman’s displays at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco reinforced his pedigree.

The 28-year-old scored three goals and provided four assists as Nigeria impressed at the tournament, underlining his attacking threat and consistency on the international stage.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Atlético Madrid are long-term admirers of Lookman and are considering a move, although the Spanish side are yet to make formal contact with either Atalanta or the player’s representatives.

Turkish champions Galatasaray have also shown strong interest in the Nigerian forward, but discussions have yet to yield a concrete agreement.

The club’s pursuit was fuelled by comments from Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, who confirmed he had spoken with Lookman about a potential move.

Despite Atalanta’s earlier reluctance to sell to Serie A rivals, reigning Italian champions Napoli are understood to have intensified talks as they seek to reinforce their attacking options before the transfer window closes.

It was previously reported that Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Aston Villa all declined the chance to sign Lookman, despite Atalanta’s willingness to negotiate.

With around 18 months remaining on his current contract, Atalanta are weighing the option of selling the forward at a reasonable fee or risking the possibility of losing one of their key players on a free transfer.

Since joining the club, Lookman has been a consistent performer, registering 55 goals and 27 assists in 136 appearances.
