Ademola Lookman Atlético Madrid signing confirmed as the Nigeria forward joins from Atalanta on a four year contract

Atlético de Madrid have completed the signing of Nigerian international Ademola Lookman from Atalanta, securing the forward on a four year contract until 30 June 2030.

The Spanish club confirmed the transfer in a statement published on its official website on Monday, describing Lookman as one of Europe’s most decisive attackers following an impressive spell in Italy.

Atlético Madrid said the 28-year-old successfully completed his medical examinations in Madrid before signing his contract at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.

The club said Lookman was welcomed by Chief Executive Officer Miguel Ángel Gil, who oversaw the formal completion of the deal.

Born in Wandsworth, London, on 20 October 1997, Lookman began his football journey at Waterloo FC before developing through the Charlton Athletic academy.

He made his senior debut for Charlton in November 2015 and later featured across England and Germany with Everton, RB Leipzig, Fulham and Leicester City.

Lookman joined Atalanta in the summer of 2022, where he enjoyed the most prolific period of his career.

During his time in Bergamo, he made 137 appearances, scoring 55 goals and registering 27 assists across all competitions.

He played a decisive role in Atalanta’s historic 2023/24 UEFA Europa League triumph, scoring a hat trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen to secure a 3–0 victory and the club’s first continental title.

On the international stage, Lookman represented England at youth level and won the 2017 FIFA Under 20 World Cup.

He switched allegiance to Nigeria in 2022 and has since earned 41 caps for the Super Eagles, scoring 11 goals.
