Veteran singer and activist Charly Boy declares his total support for Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 Nigerian presidential election, citing Obi’s vision and leadership as reasons

Veteran entertainer and activist Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has publicly declared his full support for Peter Obi in the lead-up to Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on the KaaTruths podcast on YouTube on 10 February 2026, Charly Boy praised Obi’s simplicity, leadership style, and vision, describing him as Nigeria’s best choice for the presidency.

He emphasized that his support is based on competence and commitment to national progress, not ethnic loyalty, citing his friendship with former President Olusegun Obasanjo as evidence.

Charly Boy also advised Obi against repeatedly promising a single-term presidency, stressing that Nigerian youths must collectively decide when to demand change.
