Salah, 33, has found form recently, scoring in three of his past four starts following a lean spell earlier this season. Slot offered no definite recovery timeline.

“It’s unusual,” Slot said at Friday’s press conference. “As a result of that, (he’s) not available for tomorrow. The good thing is the international break; the bad thing is he can’t go to Egypt.”

Slot expressed hope that Salah’s meticulous fitness regime could allow for an earlier return than typical injuries might permit. “But it’s only two weeks until we go again, so let’s hope in that period he can be back.”

Despite his strong form, Salah has scored just five Premier League goals this season, down from 29 in Liverpool’s 2024/25 title-winning campaign.

Liverpool, currently fifth in the league, sit two points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa as they pursue a Champions League qualification spot. Slot admitted attacking inefficiency remains an issue.

“We’re struggling to score goals. Not that we don’t score them, but with all the chances we create, it’s unbelievable we don’t score, given the quality we have up front,” he said.
