Charly Boy blasts Sowore over criticism of Gov. Alex Otti, calling him a “snake in green grass” as Abia officials defend performance

Veteran Nigerian entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, on Monday, 23 March 2026, publicly criticised former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore in response to his remarks about the administration of Abia State Governor Alex Otti, in a development that has intensified political reactions across social media.

The controversy, which has become widely discussed under the Charly Boy blasts Sowore narrative, follows Sowore’s comments during a visit to Aba, where he described ongoing infrastructural changes in Abia State as “half-transformation” rather than a full assessment of progress under Governor Alex Otti.

Sowore had reportedly stated that the governor’s performance did not meet expectations, a comment that sparked immediate backlash from supporters of the administration and political commentators within the state.

Reacting in a strongly worded post on X, Charly Boy described Sowore as “a snake in the green grass,” alleging that the activist was acting as a covert political agent and questioning the sincerity of his criticism.

The entertainer’s remarks added a sharp and emotional dimension to the ongoing debate, further polarising opinions about Sowore’s assessment of governance in Abia State.

Similarly, Onyebuchi Ememanka, Director General of the Abia State Strategic Communications Bureau, also criticised Sowore, accusing him of making conclusions about Aba’s development after a brief visit lasting less than 24 hours.

Ememanka argued that such a short stay was insufficient for a fair evaluation of the state’s progress, insisting that residents of Aba were better positioned to judge the administration’s performance.

The Charly Boy blasts Sowore exchange highlights growing tensions between political activists and government supporters over narratives surrounding development in Abia State.

Governor Alex Otti’s administration has repeatedly defended its record, maintaining that ongoing reforms and infrastructure projects are part of a long-term transformation agenda for the state.
