The Yobe State Police Command, through its spokesperson SP Dungus Abdulkarim, has confirmed that five members of the same family were killed in a tragic road accident along the Damaturu–Maiduguri highway.

SP Dungus Abdulkarim disclosed on Wednesday that the Yobe tragic crash family incident also left several others injured, with survivors currently receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Damaturu.

The victims, identified as Hajjagana Dahiru Zayi, Ibrahim Dahiru Zayi, Muhammad Dahiru Zayi, Hauwa Dahiru Zayi, and another relative, were all from the same family and residents of Potiskum Local Government Area.

The accident has plunged the community into deep mourning.

A relative, Dahiru Musa Talba, who shared the development on social media, described the loss as devastating, expressing profound grief over the deaths.

Police authorities confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident. SP Dungus Abdulkarim stated that preliminary details indicate multiple casualties, while efforts continue to support the injured.
