Nigeria’s Super Eagles will discover their opponents for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers when the official draw holds on 19 May.

The Super Eagles 2027 AFCON qualifiers draw will determine Nigeria’s path to the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

A total of 48 national teams will compete for qualification, with the sides divided into 12 groups of four. Only the top two teams from each group will secure places in the final tournament.

Matches are scheduled to be played during FIFA international windows in September, October, and November.

Nigeria heads into the draw with confidence after finishing third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, reinforcing their status as one of the continent’s strongest teams.

Despite being expected to be among the seeded nations, the Super Eagles are likely to face tough opposition, as several African teams continue to improve competitively.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has also confirmed that the 2027 AFCON tournament will run from 19 June to 17 July, marking the first time it will be hosted by three countries.

The joint hosting is expected to enhance competition and spotlight football development across East Africa.
