Chelsea teenager Jesse Derry has expressed gratitude and relief after suffering a frightening head injury that cut short his first Premier League start during a match against Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge.

Jesse’s head injury recovery journey at Chelsea, the story began in a tense moment late in the first half when the 18-year-old collided heavily with Nottingham Forest defender Zach Abbott, forcing a prolonged stoppage as medical teams rushed onto the pitch.

Derry received oxygen treatment on the field before being stretchered off and taken to St Mary’s Hospital for further assessment.
