Abia police have remanded suspected drug kingpin Chukwudi Eguzouwa, 49, after a hideout raid in Ahiaba-Ubi. He has been arraigned

Abia State Police Command said on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, that suspected drug dealer Chukwudi Eguzouwa, 49, has been arraigned and remanded in a correctional facility after his arrest in Ahiaba-Ubi, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area.

Command spokesperson DSP Maureen Chinaka issued the statement in Umuahia. She said operatives of the Violent Response Unit and the Anti-Cultism Unit raided hideouts in the area on 18 September 2026 on the orders of Commissioner of Police Wilfred Afolabi.

DSP Maureen Chinaka said Chukwudi Eguzouwa was known in the community as a notorious dealer in hard drugs and psychotropic substances.

Officers recovered bags said to contain substances suspected to be marijuana, “Scottish Loud,” methamphetamine, cocaine and other drugs. Those identifications remain police suspicions until a laboratory result and a court finding.

Investigations closed on Tuesday, 22 September 2026. The suspect was then taken to court and remanded. The statement did not name the court, the exact charges or whether he entered a plea.
