Galatasaray say Victor Osimhen’s transfer package shocked Arsenal’s Andrea Berta, highlighting the huge financial scale of the deal

Galatasaray vice-president Abdullah Kavukcu has revealed that Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta was surprised by the financial scale of the transfer involving Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen during a recent club visit.

The comments come after Galatasaray completed a major move to secure Victor Osimhen on a permanent basis following a successful loan spell from Napoli, despite strong interest from Premier League and Saudi Arabian clubs.

The Turkish champions activated the striker’s €75 million release clause to bring an end to his five-year spell at Napoli, marking one of the most significant transfers in recent European football.

According to Kavukcu, the financial structure of the deal left visiting Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta visibly surprised, particularly given Galatasaray’s level of investment.

He disclosed that the striker is set to earn a guaranteed €15 million annually, alongside a €1 million loyalty bonus each season and an additional €5 million per year from image rights agreements.

The overall value of the four-year contract is estimated at around €159 million, placing it among the most expensive commitments in European football.

Kavukcu stated that the club would not consider selling Victor Osimhen even for a fee as high as €150 million, although he noted that the final decision rests with the club president.

He stressed that replacing a player of Osimhen’s calibre would be extremely difficult and strategically risky for the club.

The Galatasaray vice-president also highlighted the striker’s commercial impact, describing him as a major financial asset both on and off the pitch.

According to him, the club expects to generate around €22 million directly from Osimhen’s presence, in addition to €6 million from advertising partnerships linked to the Nigerian forward.

Kavukcu added that Galatasaray has secured three separate endorsement deals involving Victor Osimhen, each contributing significantly to the club’s commercial revenue.

The remarks underline the growing financial influence of top footballers in global transfer economics, with Osimhen’s move to Istanbul emerging as one of the most high-profile deals in recent seasons.
